KEY FACTS
Wren racing cars were a distinctive product of Australia’s single-seater racing scene, developed during the late 1970s and 1980s to compete in categories such as Formula 2, Formula Pacific and club-level open-wheel racing. Designed with a focus on simplicity, low weight and mechanical accessibility, Wren cars typically featured well-engineered tubular spaceframe chassis and utilised proven production based engines such as the reliable VW Golf 1600cc powerplants, making them both competitive and cost-effective to campaign. Built for weekend racers, Wren cars earned a reputation for strong handling, reliability and adaptability across multiple formulas, becoming a familiar sight at state and national race meetings. Today, surviving Wren race cars are sought after due to their simple and reliable engineering and they play important role in Australia’s historic open-wheel racing heritage.
This running example requires some minor work to get it back to 100% as it has sat for sometime. The Wren features a VW Golf 1600cc motor, Disc brakes all round, Trans axle rear, 13 inch three piece wheels, Oil cooler, Twin Weber carbs, RPM 4 point harness and much more.
This marks a unique opportunity to acquire a part of Australian Motorsport history, in running condition with some minor work needed, ideal for track days, competition or a private collection.

Payment: Full payment for all items won must be made prior to collection. Please note there are no payment facilities available on-site.
Collection & Removal: All items must be completely removed from their current location at the buyer’s expense. Listings for items suitable for postage will include an estimated shipping cost.
Size & Handling: Buyers are responsible for assessing the size and weight of their items and must bring sufficient assistance and equipment for safe removal. Staff are unable to assist with lifting or moving.
Care of Premises: All buyers are required to use due care when removing items to ensure no damage is caused to the premises.
Courier Collections: Items cannot be returned to our warehouse. However, couriers are welcome to collect on your behalf. Please provide written approval and courier details to auctions@allbids.com.au in advance.
