The SL Class was introduced in 1954 as a Grand Tourer sports car. The SL Class still continues today and since 1954 has gone through six generations with numerous updates in between. The R129 generation SL Class was the fourth gen out of the six and instantly became a modern day classic. The 500SL was the spec that put the R129 gen on the map and was an instant success. It was packed with the luxury demanded from a top end Mercedes, as well as once again bringing safety to new levels with an automatic roll-bar deployment in a roll over.This SL500 Was one of very first Australian delivered 500SL's to be sold by Star Motors Canberra, It features the 5.0lt 326hp V8 that helped make these cars the classic that they are today. The hardtop roof is ideal through the cooler months but lifts off easily so that the convertible soft top can be utilised through the warmer months.
This impeccably well kept example features the original books with full service history, both original keys and has only travelled 165,000kms since new. The car presents extremely well for its age with all electronic components working well.
This is a beautiful car to be enjoyed and a true V8 Mercedes sports car. Good examples are becoming hard to find so don't miss this opportunity.
