The BMW i3, launched globally in 2013 and in Australia in late 2014, was BMW’s first mass-produced electric vehicle and a pioneering entry in the premium EV market. It was built on a unique carbon fibre reinforced plastic (CFRP) passenger cell and aluminium chassis — a radical departure from conventional BMW design and construction.
