1961 Holden Special EK 4d Sedan Aqua 2.3L
| The Holden EK was a restyle with some modern updates of the successful FB generation. The EK was launched in 1961 and unfortunately came at a bad time for the motor industry in Australia. The recession hit hard and the government had introduced a new 40% tax on motor vehicles which brought the EK to an abrupt end in 1962. This completely intact original 1961 EK Special has been very well maintained and is in mechanically sound condition. The original "grey motor" with the vehicle was sent to Brisbane approx 5 years ago for original grey motor to be pulled apart and fully reconditioned via Oz Rods. It was equipped with hardened valve heads and drives best on standard 98 high octane unleaded, no fuel additive required. Additionally a reconditioned gearbox has been fitted with the bearing kit now due and linkages due for tightening. (Note: optional reconditioned box exchangeservice available from Advanced Transmissions, Mitchell ACT). (Servicing knowledge also held by MA Engineering, Mitchell ACT). Some of the additional work carried out includes, in 2018 new exhaust with stainless end, generator rewound approx 5 years ago by Gibbs Auto, Belconnen ACT, radiator fully rebuilt approx 10 yrs ago, reconditioned/ new waterpump installed approx 5 years ago, tyres new from December 2018 and all braking systems properly serviced as necessary. This EK has same owner for over 15 years and has been very popular with photo shoots, wedding reunions, highschool formals, a even movie prop. The EK has been garaged inland and comes with brand new reconstructed stainless quarter-glasses and brand new reconstructed perspex front windows wind deflectors not yet installed.
